DESIGN
All record weights and clamps known to us are simiÂlar in their basic cylindÂriÂcal shape. With JEWEL, we have impleÂmenÂted a darÂing design conÂcept and deveÂloÂped the first asymÂmeÂtriÂcal resoÂnanÂce conÂtrol conÂcept. AltÂhough the outer conÂtours of the body, milÂled from solid stainÂless steel, are asymÂmeÂtriÂcal, in numÂeÂrous comÂpuÂter simuÂlaÂtiÂons we have manaÂged to achieÂve one hundred perÂcent even weight distribution.
With our three-point approach, we have deveÂloÂped a uniÂque resoÂnanÂce conÂtrol conÂcept. The comÂbiÂnaÂtiÂon of a shaft seal, brass rods and SorÂboÂthaÂne damÂping ring miniÂmiÂzes the contÂact points with the turnÂtaÂble and the record while alloÂwing the enerÂgy of unwanÂted mechaÂniÂcal noiÂse and vibraÂtiÂons from the record playÂer and the record itsÂelf to be absorÂbed and neutralized.
Ramar’s Record Stand was also desiÂgned as addiÂtioÂnal packÂaÂging proÂtecÂtion for the resoÂnanÂce conÂtrol conÂcept. This makes the packÂaÂging safer and more susÂtainable. When you purchaÂse JEWEL, the Record Stand is included.
THREE-POINT APPROACH
• JEWEL is mounÂted to the spindÂle via a so-calÂled shaft seal. The uniÂque design of the shaft seal ring ensuÂres a staÂble conÂnecÂtion with the spindÂle. The elaÂsÂtic coaÂting of the ring neuÂtraÂliÂzes the vibraÂtiÂons, that might be transÂmitÂted via the spindÂle. At the same time, the expanÂdaÂble NBR rubÂber coaÂting allows JEWEL to be used on a wide varieÂty of record playÂers with difÂfeÂrent spindÂles. The mateÂriÂal NBR (nitriÂle butaÂdieÂne rubÂber) is an elasÂtoÂmer with excelÂlent mechaÂniÂcal proÂperÂties and has high abraÂsiÂon and tenÂsiÂle strength. TheÂre is a coil spring around the cenÂter hole insiÂde the shaft seal that serÂves to addiÂtioÂnalÂly staÂbiÂliÂze the spindÂle mount.
• Eight brass rods are susÂpenÂded indeÂpendentÂly of each other in the body. As soon as JEWEL is plaÂced on the record, the rods plunÂge down and gentÂly touch the surÂface. TheÂse transÂmit some of the resoÂnanÂces insiÂde JEWEL, wheÂre they are eliÂmiÂnaÂted. The susÂpenÂsiÂon allows the indiÂviÂduÂal rods to adapt perÂfectÂly to any difÂfeÂrenÂces in height of the record surÂface cauÂsed by difÂfeÂrent label strucÂtures. This ensuÂres that the contÂact surÂface of the brass rods remains conÂstant for all records.
• In colÂlaÂboÂraÂtiÂon with SorÂboÂthaÂne Inc., we have deveÂloÂped a uniÂque SorÂboÂthaÂne damÂping ring. This was deveÂloÂped accorÂding to our speÂciÂfiÂcaÂtiÂons for the funcÂtion, mass and shape of JEWEL and ensuÂres balanÂced damÂping of unwanÂted vibraÂtiÂons and resoÂnanÂces from records.
SorÂboÂthaÂne is a proÂprieÂtaÂry, visÂcoelaÂsÂtic polyÂmer. VisÂcoelaÂsÂtic means that the mateÂriÂal has proÂperÂties of both liquids and solids (elaÂsÂtic mateÂriÂals). SorÂboÂthaÂne comÂbiÂnes shock absorpÂtiÂon, good memoÂry, vibraÂtiÂon isoÂlaÂtiÂon and vibraÂtiÂon damÂping. While many mateÂriÂals have only one of theÂse proÂperÂties, SorÂboÂthaÂne comÂbiÂnes all of them in a staÂble mateÂriÂal with a long serÂvice life.
IMPORTANT
In order to be able to use JEWEL proÂperÂly, you need a visiÂble (aboÂve the surÂface of the record) height of the spindÂle betÂween a miniÂmum of 6mm and a maxiÂmum of 20mm. With a lower or higÂher spindÂle length, the desiÂred horiÂzonÂtal plaÂceÂment of JEWEL can be enormÂously impaiÂred or even prevented.
