The German Design Award (GDA) is the international premium prize of the German Design Council. Its aim is to discover, present and reward unique design trends. Every year, therefore, the award is presented to high-calibre entries from the fields of product and communication design, all of which are pioneering in their own way on the international design landscape. The German Design Award, which was initiated in 2012, is one of the most recognised design competitions worldwide and enjoys a high reputation far beyond specialist circles.
About Design German Council
The Council was established in 1953 as a foundation on the initiative of the German Bundestag. Since then, it has been supporting the economy in consistently achieving brand added value through design. This makes the German Design Council one of the world’s leading competence centres for communication and brand management in the field of design. In addition to trade associations and institutions, the exclusive network of foundation members includes the content and brand managers of renowned companies.
The “Special Mention” award is given to works whose design shows particularly successful partial aspects or solutions — an award that rewards the commitment of companies and designers.
